Pages to recognize

Saved PDF receives an invisible searchable text layer unless Redaction on Save is enabled.
OCR support is prepared in the background. The service worker pre-downloads the OCR runtime and supported language models when the editor is installed/updated. Find and editable Word conversion can then run OCR automatically when scanned pages are detected. Recognition runs on this device; your PDF or page image is not uploaded to an OCR service.

OCR accuracy depends on scan quality, resolution, rotation and typography. Handwriting and very complex layouts may not recognize reliably.

Convert PDF to Word

BlitzTrials reconstructs the document locally from PDF text, OCR coordinates, graphics and simple drawing objects. No cloud document-conversion service is used.

Reconstruction settings
Text appearance and document structure

Searchable PDFs: BlitzTrials carries detected font family, Word-compatible font size, text colour, bold and italic styling into the DOCX and can rebuild reliable tables/text boxes. Scanned PDFs: the original scan remains visible by default while OCR text is added using viewer-safe Word paragraphs; exact original fonts and complex merged table structures may still require manual adjustment.

Scanned forms and tables

For image-only PDFs, BlitzTrials now analyses the rendered scan itself for long horizontal and vertical borders. Strong grids are converted into native Word tables, including empty cells. OCR words are assigned to the matching cells. If no reliable grid is found, the safer viewer-compatible OCR paragraph fallback is used.

Independent local converter. BlitzTrials writes the DOCX/OOXML package directly in your browser. OCR results are passed straight into the Word reconstruction engine instead of being recovered from an intermediate hidden PDF text layer.

PDF and Word use different layout models. Vector and scanned table borders are reconstructed where reliable. Irregular merged cells, broken/faint borders, handwritten forms, unusual fonts and complex graphics can still require manual adjustment after conversion.

LOCAL PDF EDITOR

Quick guide

  1. Open PDFSelect one or several PDFs or images. Password-protected PDFs ask for their existing password locally. That original password is not automatically copied to the new PDF.
  2. Select or reorderSelect Pages only when you need thumbnails. Drag thumbnails to reorder, or use each thumbnail’s three-dot menu for page actions.
  3. Edit or delete pagesOpen Pages when needed. Use each thumbnail’s three-dot menu for Replace, Insert, Rotate, Duplicate, Crop, Resize or Delete. Undo can restore reversible changes.
  4. Paint / cover original contentChoose the paint colour, select Paint, then drag over unwanted original text or images. Use a background-matching colour to cover content, or Extra Fine with a dark colour for handwriting/signing. Undo removes the last paint stroke.
  5. Highlight / markerSelect Highlight, choose a marker colour and thickness, then drag across existing page content. Marker strokes are translucent and can be undone.
  6. Add replacement contentAdd text using Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri and other common fonts with bold, italic, underline or an optional coloured highlight. Image adds a normal picture; Signature / chop opens with a freehand signature pad using a black Extra Fine pen by default, while uploaded signatures/chops can still have pale paper backgrounds removed automatically.
  7. Find / fillCtrl+F searches searchable PDF text. Fill form detects common text, checkbox, radio and choice fields on the selected PDF page and places the completed values into the saved copy.
  8. OCR scanned textFind and editable Word conversion automatically OCR scanned/image-only pages when needed. Tools → OCR scanned text remains available for manual Current page / Scanned pages / All pages recognition. The service worker pre-caches the OCR engine and supported language models; document pixels stay on your device.
  9. Convert to WordOpen Tools → Convert to Word. Editable Layout reconstructs positioned editable text, graphics and simple Word shapes; Text First prioritises editable paragraphs; Visual Copy preserves each page as an image. Scanned pages can feed OCR coordinates directly into Word conversion.
  10. Comments / reviewOpen Comments to add a non-printing comment pin, reply, resolve or delete. Review conversations are stored inside PDFs saved by BlitzTrials and reappear when that PDF is opened again in BlitzTrials.
  11. Crop / resize / fitCrop removes page-edge margins on export. Resize supports A5, A4, A3, Letter, Legal, Tabloid and custom millimetres. Page / Width / Height controls change only the editing view.
  12. Save optionsSelect Save for a normal default export. Tick Advanced save options only when you need compression, password protection, redaction, header/footer or page numbers. Passwords are kept in memory only.
  13. Save or printSave downloads a separate PDF. Print prepares the current edited document without BlitzTrials review comments. Free or guest saved exports include a very small “Edited with BlitzTrials.com” footer. When the same BlitzTrials Firebase login used by the main dashboard is detected and the user profile has Premium entitlement, saved exports are watermark-free.
Important

Editing creates a new document. Interactive form fields, links, third-party PDF annotations and digital signatures may be flattened or removed. BlitzTrials review comments are preserved separately as non-printing review data. Keep your original PDF.
